Join Dr. Tucker Landy as he reflects on the things we continue to use, enjoy, and benefit from, almost daily, which we have inherited, directly or indirectly, from the ancient Greeks. Some of these things may surprise you!
Tucker Landy, was raised in Massachusetts, and has lived in Kentucky for the past 36 years. He received his baccalaureate in history (Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Massachusetts in 1980, and a PhD in the history of culture from the University of Chicago in 1987. He taught at Kentucky State University from 1988 to 2016 in the Whitney Young School of Honors and Liberal Studies, where he taught courses on the Great Books, history, ancient Greek and Latin, selected topics in math and science, and integrative studies. He has published several articles and a book (After Leo Strauss: New Directions in Platonic Political Philosophy, SUNY, 2014) relating to certain topics in political philosophy. Now retired, his interest in the ancient Greek and Latin languages and literature continues today.
This event is part of One Book One Frankfort.
