Program Description

Event Details

Embark on a journey of self-love through the exploration of hair as we read and discuss Hair Story: Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America by Ayana D. Byrd and Lori L. Tharps. Engage in a community discussion led by Frankfort City Commissioner Katrisha Waldridge and a panel of local hair experts offering insights into black hair textures and styles throughout history.

Extend the experience beyond conversation with a hair product swap! Bring along your new or gently-used hair products to exchange with other attendees, and leave with new-to-you products to enhance your own hair care regimen.

A limited number of copies of Hair Story will be available beginning June 1 on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register before stopping by the Check Out Desk to pick up your copy of the book.

(By participating in the product swap, you acknowledge that the library is not liable for any potential hair damage or issues resulting from the use of swapped hair products. Participants exchange products at their own risk, and it is recommended to exercise caution and perform patch tests before full application. The library assumes no responsibility for any adverse reactions or consequences arising from the swapping of hair care items.)
