Purpose of Meeting
The Youth Café model is a research-based and nationally recognized framework designed to empower youth to engage in discussions with other youth about how to build Resiliency through Protective Factors. Youth Cafés adhere to six Guiding Premises that lay the foundation for the Cafés and provide a safe, welcoming and inviting environment for young people to build connections through conversations and develop relationships to help them thrive.
During the Youth Café Training of Trainers event, participants will have the opportunity to experience a Youth Café by engaging in a mock Café. Participants will learn how to plan for and facilitate a Youth Café through the use of the Guiding Premises and incorporating Protective Factors into the content. The training will cover how to manage different personality types and discuss common issues that may rise during the Youth Café.
To train organizations to provide Youth Cafes in schools and communities. Youth Cafes focus on Protective Factors and help youth learn how to apply these Protective Factors in their own lives.
