As Steve Demaree was writing letters to several pen-pals (mostly girls) when he was in his early and mid-teens, he had no idea that he would one day be an author. He still had no idea when he became a movie critic, a profession that lasted for ten years. This year, Demaree features two new books (his 39th and 40th), which are the latest additions to the Dekker Cozy Mystery series: Witness to Murder and The Pink Flamingo Murder. He has participated in every Gathering of Authors and considers it one of his favorite events.
Witness to Murder
Cy Dekker is sitting on the front porch of his cabin in the woods when the mailman makes an infrequent stop at his house. Curious about an envelope he receives, he opens it to find a note telling him that someone has been murdered. When Cy does nothing about this, he receives a second note, and then a third one. When he receives a note telling him the approximate location where he can find the body, he is curious enough to grab Lou so they check to see if they find a dead body. Then things get interesting.
